I Hate Teething

Camille is growing in her top two teeth, and

it's

awful.

She's had a fever the past few days; a sure side effect of the teething. She won't eat her normal food, and she gets angry at the drop of a hat.

On the other hand, she's very much enjoying dancing to the music in Ironman 2, and she now loves chicken noodle soup more than any of her fruit-based foods.

The Nine-Month Pics!

Elisha brought the finished photos over today! They're awesome! I posted some of my favorites here for your viewing pleasure.

Ten Months Old

Camille is 10 months old! That's almost a year! This is insane!

Camille and the Walkin' Wagon

I went to Ikea a couple days ago to get this plastic floor protector. It is now sitting on the carpet beneath Camille's highchair (AKA the Nommin' Station) to prevent her food from staining the carpet. It's worked awesome so far! Score one for mommy!

If you've ever been to Ikea, you know all about the neat-o stuff they have everywhere. And even though I didn't bring Camille with me, I still went through the baby/children section.

Big Cottonwood Weekend

I've been meaning to get Camille's 9-month pictures done for a couple of weeks now, and we finally got out on Saturday to get them done! I don't have the finished, polished pictures yet, but I did take a few of the process and our photo sites.

We went to the Ledgemere Picnic Area, which is up Big Cottonwood Canyon just a little ways. It was a beautiful location and a beautiful day, and even though Camille was kind of being uncooperative, I think we're going to get some awesome pictures!

The photographer was our good friend Elisha. She took some pictures of Camille when she was about 2 months old, and they were great!

The Update Thread

I've been a-slackin' lately, and I really have no good excuse. I'm sorry! But to make it up to everyone, I'm going to write this wicked-awesome post about what all is happening in my neck of the woods.

Ready? Let's go!

It's Been a While

Since I updated anyone who cares on my garden's progress.

I gave up on the cukes after a freak cold snap shocked the crap out of them. I just tore them out and put them out of their misery. The nasturtium also succumbed to that freak cold snap, as did a couple of the basil. However, everything that survived is going to live through just about anything, I think.

Four jalapenos and one habanero. I'm pretty sure the habanero
is going to die because it hasn't grown at all in like...
2 months.

The StairMaster

Camille has long been enamored of our stairs, which is why we had them gated off from her for so long. But then I thought, "If we keep her away from the stairs forever, she'll never learn how to go up and down them." So I moved the gate up a couple of steps, so she can climb onto the first landing and then one step up from that.

Like so.

Today, I removed the gate and let her climb up as many stairs as she wanted. I was behind her the whole time, so don't worry! She ended up going all the way to the top, three times.

She fuckin' loves those stairs. But she can't go down yet. Well, one step at a time!

The Super Historically-Accurate Story of American Freedom

Happy Birthday, America! Sometimes you're kind of a bitch, but I love you anyway!

The Fourth of July is a day where we should stop and consider ourselves lucky for several things, amongst which are the following:
  1. That the British Empire in the late 1700's cared more about tea and spices than anything America had to offer.
  2. That French people weren't afraid to be assholes.
  3. That the colonists were tax-dodging big fat cheaters.

June in the Es El See

It's hot today! Hot enough to boil a monkey's bum, maybe.

It's Purple

My mom has been a great source of info regarding foods that a baby might like to eat.

She said I loved peas when I was a baby, and Camille loves peas.

She said I loved carrots, and Camille loves carrots.

She said I loved beets

so I made some beets for Camille. I was apprehensive to feed them to her, because they're super stainers. My fingers were nice and purple for a while after I made the beet baby food, and my cutting board is still a little purple from where I sliced them up.

But Jake finally decided that it was Beet Time, so she was fed beets. And here's how it went:

I got the stains off her face pretty easily, but she dropped a chunk into her lap. I had to Zout it like crazy and wash it immediately. I'm happy to report that I got the stains out.

She didn't gobble the beets like she gobbles peas, but she didn't spit them out either. I'd say they're a 7 on Camille's Yummy Scale of 1-10.

This morning, Camille took a dump. As usual. But when I opened it, her poop was not usual at all.

It was purple.

BEETS!
