I Hate Teething

Camille is growing in her top two teeth, and

it's

awful.

She's had a fever the past few days; a sure side effect of the teething. She won't eat her normal food, and she gets angry at the drop of a hat.

On the other hand, she's very much enjoying dancing to the music in Ironman 2, and she now loves chicken noodle soup more than any of her fruit-based foods.

Wednesday Gripe

Uhh I posted this on Thursday and then edited the Labels today, and now it's showing as being a Friday post. Blogger is being weird.

Camille is teething.

I hate teething.

Teething makes her cry, and it makes me want to cry. I get no sleep at night, and she begins the day by screaming and crying.

Yesterday, she cried for four hours, broken by maybe five minutes here and there when I would give her a new toy or teether in hopes that the new item would make her happy. And it would... for five minutes. Then she would throw whatever it was on the ground and continue wailing.

She finally fell asleep after four hours of crying. Did I mention that I'm sick once again? So I'm feeling generally crappy with a headache and sore throat and upset stomach, and my apartment turned off the water from 9am to 5pm, so I didn't have any running water all day.

On the upside, feeling cruddy kept me inside, and I got some crocheting done! I made an Ugly Bunny, but in my humble opinion, he's so ugly, he's cute!

This one was made for a friend, so I'm working on another one for Camille. It's purple and rather than being an Ugly Bunny, it's going to be an Ugly Mars Monster.

Teefers

So I discovered today that Camille is cutting her first tooth!

Part of me is singing, "Hooray! Cami has teeth! She's such a big girl!"

I'M SO HAPPY!

Another part of me is groaning, "Oh shit, my boobs are in for a hurtin'."

So nursing might get unpleasant here pretty soon.

Operation Single Sleeper, Regression

Last night, Camille woke up at 1am, which is business as usual. Normally, she goes right back to sleep.

But last night, she didn't go back to sleep. She stayed up crying until 4am.

I'm. So. Tired.

I think she's teething. She had better be teething, because otherwise she was screaming for 3 hours in the middle of the night for no reason. And if that's the case, she's grounded.

Boogers, Boogers Everywhere

And not a drop to drink. (cackle, now you're thinking about drinking boogers)

Camille developed a runny nose on Wednesday night, and it's still going strong.

And by runny, I mean liquid boogers literally flowing out of both nostrils. The flowing tickles her, apparently, so she puts her little hammy baby hand into the boogers and smears them all over her upper lip and cheeks. Then it dries. Cleaning her up is becoming tiresome.

I thought she was sick, but according to my mom and the Internet, she's probably just teething. She doesn't have a fever or any other sign that she's sick besides the runny nose, and she's definitely chomping on everything she sees. I'm inclined to believe she's teething. Why teething causes a runny nose is beyond me, but whatever.

Teething/Eczema and Drag Queens

Jake and I get no sleep.

According to Jake, Camille's eczema is a relatively mild form. Therefore, her eczema alone shouldn't be the cause of her continued and increasing crankiness. So our newest hypothesis is that Camille is a big crankypants because of eczema and teething.

Wonderful.

While I sit up with her during the day (during the time she should be napping but isn't), and rock her while she cries because she's tired but won't nap, I watch movies.

I saw To Wong Fu, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar a looooong time ago, and I remembered that it stars one of my favorite actors, John Leguizamo, and that it was funny and fabulous. So I Netflixed it and watched it. I had completely forgotten that the three stars of the movie are - alongside John Leguizamo - Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes. A more perfect trio of queens there never was and never will be.

Fierce.
Google image P.S., When I searched for this picture, I found a different one that I picked first. However, the image was taken from a post about Patrick Swayze's death... on a white-pride forum (apparently, this picture was used to demonstrate why Swayze was a race traitor? I didn't read the post, just saw the title of the thread). I didn't really want to link to a white-pride anything from my blog, so I didn't include that picture and found the above one instead.

Teething?

Camille is normally a very good nighttime sleeper. She'll wake up a couple of times for eats, but she makes virtually no noise and after she's eaten, she goes right back to sleep.

Not last night.

Last night, she cried when we put her to bed. Then she fell asleep for about an hour, and woke up and cried some more. I fed her and she fell asleep. Then she woke up a couple hours later and cried. Then fell asleep. Then cried. And so on and so forth, until 8:30 this morning, when she woke up and was all giggly as usual.

Meanwhile, I'm still splattered to the bed, because 2-hour stints of sleeping apparently don't do anything for  a chipper morning.

The only way to get her to stop crying in a timely manner is to hold her and stand up and rock her. She'll fall asleep soon thereafter, so that's what I did about five times last night. During one of these rocking bouts, I thought about why Camille might suddenly be a bad sleeper.

The obvious answer is "she must be teething." I mean, she's five months old. She should be growing teeth, right? Everyone says teething pain is worst at night so babies who were usually good sleepers become not-good sleepers. But try as I might, I can't feel any teeth below her gums. Maybe I just don't know what I'm supposed to be feeling for.

Here's hoping that the nighttime crying fits don't last long.

edit: This is my 200th post! I didn't commemorate my 100th because the idea just didn't occur to me, and I didn't do the 200th (on time) because I forgot. Oh well. Here's to 200 posts, and to 200 more!
