Why Oming? Part Three

Day Three of our Yellowstone adventure, and Camille was so pooped from all the fun that she passed right out on the way to our morning activity.

What was our morning activity, you ask? A SNIPE HUNT!

Find the snipe!

No, really, a snipe is a real thing. The Yellowstone Wildlife Pamphlet said so.

OK, what we really did was hike Mount Washburn. If it's not the tallest mountain in Yellowstone, then it's one of the tallest mountains in Yellowstone. But it sure was pretty! And once we got to the top and sat down for a while, we decided that it was worth the trek.

Squirrel!
We turned the corner of this trail, and on the other end, some coyotes turned. We were both standing in the road, face to face, unflinching. We all stood there for a while, and then these two little ki-yotes trotted off down the meadow and into the trees. It was pretty neat!

Coyotes!

My turn to carry Camille.

Squirrel!

The view from the 3/4th's-of-the-way point.

Our destination: a watchtower. It was free of Jehovah's
Witnesses.

10,243 feet. I'm pretty sure we were almost in outer space.

I put the flash on in the above picture, and yeah, the flash is reflected back. But without the flash, you can't see the diagram at the bottom, and that was the whole point of the picture in the first place!

Camille was diggin' the view!

Squirrel! Pika!

Happy to be at the bottom!

Walking like a drunk monkey.

The bison in Yellowstone obey posted traffic signs. This
one is pausing at a stop sign.

The sun kinda washed her face out, but
I think her expression is hilarious.

After hiking to the top of the known world, we had dinner, and then did an evening hike. We went to the bottom of the Lower Falls (which is what we hiked to the top of on the first evening). It was awesome! But a loooooooong way down. O_o

Rainbow! What does it meeeeeean?

There were about 350 stairs. My butt
hurt so bad the next day.

More stairs oh maah gaawwwdddd.

An elk. Just sitting there. Traffic jam for
about half a mile. Hilarious.
